Sidney Daily News, Wednesday, November 8, 1911 FORMER SHELBY COUNTY WOMAN Mrs. Sarah A. Marshall Passes Away at Her Home at Piqua Monday Morning Mrs. Sarah A. Davis Marshall, widow of the William R. Marshall, died at the home of her son, Charles A. Marshall, 725 North Main street, at Piqua Monday morning. She died of heart failure. Mrs. Marshall was a member of the First Presbyterian church, also of the Ladies’ Missionary Society of that church. While unable for many months to attend public services she displayed an unusually keen interest in the doings and welfare of everything that was ennobling and uplifting to humanity. She was a woman of wonderful strength of character and will, both of which abided with and sustained her until the very end which was peaceful and filled with the essence of the life she had lived—of love, hope and consideration for others. Mrs. Marshall was born at Hardin, Shelby county, February 29, 1840, being 71 years, 8 months and 7 days old at the time of her death. She is survived by one brother who lives in Shelby county, Ohio, two sons, James and Charles A. Marshall, both of Piqua, and Margaret Goodrich, whose husband and home are at Wilmette, Ill. Mrs. Goodrich has been in Piqua for four years where she has cared for the father and mother in their home. The father passed away a year ago last October and loath to remove the mother from surroundings and friends of her entire life Mrs. Goodrich remained with the mother in Piqua. However, two months ago it was deemed advisable and at the solicitation of the mother preparations were made to remove to the home of Mrs. Goodrich at Wilmette. Five weeks ago, preparatory to the move Mrs. Marshall came to home of her son Charles, where surrounded by her grandchildren and all the care that loving hands could give she was called to her home and loved ones who have preceded her, to the great beyond. A noble woman, a loyal friend, a loving mother is gone. | |||
