Wilkinson — Lanzen Wedding

Mansfield News Journal, Wednesday, October 17, 1934

Couple United By Vows At Parsonage Wednesday

A quiet wedding was solemnized Wednesday morning at St. Peter’s parsonage when Miss Mary E. Lanzen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lanzen, Trimble road, became the bride of Edward J. Wilkinson of this city.  Mr. Wilkinson is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wilkinson, 134 Helen Avenue.  The Rev. Salvester Eisel officiated.  The bride was attired in a rust colored crepe frock with metalic trimmings and wore brown accessories.  Her attendant was Miss Mary Huber, who wore a brown silk crepe, with accessories to match.  Fred E. Wilkinson was his brother’s attendant.  Following the ceremony a luncheon was served at the home of the bride’s parents for members of the immediate families.  Chrysanthemum in fall colors were the predominating flowers.  Mrs. Wilkinson is a graduate of Mansfield Senior high school and later attended the Mansfield Commercial Institue.  She has been employed at the Farmers Savings and Trust company.  The bridegroom, who also attended Mansfield high school, for the past two years has been buyer in the carpets and drapes department of the H. L. Reed company.  Late this afternoon the couple will leave for a motor trip which will take them through the midwestern and northern states.  Mrs. Wilkinson wore a brown ensemble for traveling.  Upon their return they will be at home in Ausdale.

Mrs. Wilkinson Feted by Sister

As a post-nuptial courtesy to Mrs. Edward Wilkinson, the former Mary Lanzen, her sister, Miss Susan Lanzen, Trimble road, entertained Friday evening.  Guests were invited for three tables of bridge, and a miscellaneous shower was a pleasant feature of the affair.  Miss Josephine Mayberry and Mrs. Walter Grabosky were winners of the score prizes in the bridge game which they in turn presented to the honoree.  Mrs. Wilkinson also received many lovely shower gifts from her friends.  Appointments in colors suggestive of Hollowe’en decorated the small tables for the serving of a luncheon later in the evening.  Other affairs are being planned in Mrs. Wilkinson’s honor.
