Mansfield News Journal, Wednesday, April 19, 1933 MISS CATHERINE MATZ WEDS W. H. MARSHALL Reception and Wedding Breakfast for Immediate Families Follows Ceremony Solemnized by Rev. R. C. Goebel at High Noon. AN ANKLE LENGTH dawn blue chiffon gown fashioned on Empire lines with a bodice and puffed sleeves and trimmed with Val ace was worn by Miss Catherine Matz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M. F. Matz, 70 Helen avenue, for her wedding at high noon today, when she became the bride of William H. Marshall, Columbia avenue, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Marshall, of Piqua. Cloud pink accessories included a silk turban with a nose length veil, slippers and lace mits. Her arm bouquet was of Rapture roses, lilies of the valley and delphinium. Rev. R. C. Goebel officiated for the ceremony at St. Peter’s parsonage, with relatives of the couple witnessing the services. Miss Lucille Becker served as maid of honor. She was attired in a pale pink lace frock with a blue satin sash and Eleanor blue accessories and carried an arm bouquet of Briarcliffe roses and blue delphinium. Emmet Casey was best man for Mr. Marshall. A reception and wedding breakfast for the immediate families was held at the home of the bride’s parents following the ceremony. Appointments in a yellow and white color scheme decorated the long table at which the guests were seated for the serving of the breakfast. Later in the afternoon, Mr. Marshall and his bride left for a motor trip to northerm points of interest. After May 1, they will be at home to their friends in a newly furnished home at 119 Dawson avenue. Mrs. Marshall was graduated from Mansfield high school, and attended Otterbein college, at Westerville. Mr. Marshall was graduated from St. Mary’s high school at Piqua. Out-of-town relatives here for the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Marshall and daughter, Miss Helen of Piqua, and William Flannigan, of Bellefontaine. | |||
William Hubbard Marshall Obituary Mansfield News Journal, Saturday, December 27, 1958 William H. Marshall Stricken in Cleveland William H. Marshall, 62, of 196 Penn Ave., died yesterday afternoon in the home of his son, Frederick, in Cleveland where he and his wife were holiday visitors. Death was due to a heart attack. Born in Piqua, Nov. 11, 1896, Mr. Marshall came to Mansfield 37 years ago. He was a 25-year employe of the Tappan Stove Co., and a veteran of World War I. He was one of the organizers of the Boy Scout Troop at St. Peter’s parochial school in 1950. Mr. Marshall was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, Council of Catholic Men, Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree, Johnny Appleseed executive committee of Boy Scouts and the Diocesan Scout Committee of Toledo. He held the St. George award for outstanding Scout work. Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Catherine Matz Marshall; the son, Frederick, who is attending Western Reserve School of Dentistry in Cleveland; a daughter, Caroline Marshall, who is attending Notre Dame College in Cleveland; a grandson; two brothers, Edward and Robert Marshall, both of Mansfield, and a sister, Helen Marshall of Piqua. Emma Catherine Glasgow Obituary Mansfield News Journal, Wednesday, September 21, 1960 Mrs. Emma Catherine Glasgow Matz, 90, widow of M. Frank Matz, of 76 Helen Ave. died this morning following an extended illness. Born in Fulton County, Indiana, April 18, 1870, she had been a resident of Mansfield for the past 67 years. She was a member of the Central Methodist Church and the Mother's Home Circle of the Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ora Koons and Mrs. Katherine Marshall, both of Mansfield; one son, M. E. Matz of Cleveland; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one brother, E. S. Glasgow of Wooster. Funeral services will be conducted at the J. H. Finefrock and Sons Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock by The Rev. Laurence Miler, pastor of the Central Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Wooster Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after Thursday noon. | |||
Mansfield News Journal, Tuesday, January 11, 1994 Catherine Marshall, 88, of 341 Cook Road died Sunday at her home. She was born Oct. 1, 1905, in Mansfield to Frank and Emma Glasgow Matz and was employed at Lumberman’s Mutual Insurance Co. until she retired in 1968. She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the Daughters of Isabella. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frederick and Mary Lou Marshall of Mansfield; a daughter, Sister Carolyn Marshall H. M., of Cleveland; four grandsons, William, Douglas, Philip and Dr. Micheal Marshall; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Koons of Willoughby. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Marshall, and three brothers. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Geiger-Herlihy Funeral Home, where a vigil prayer service will be held at 7:30. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church by the Rev. John Blaser. Burial will be in the Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Msgr. Edward C. Dunn Foundation for Education. | |||
